Lehsuni Dal Palak

Lehsooni Dal Palak is an experimental food we used to make years back as a north indian version of the south indian keerai kootu, but is not a regular in restaurant menus as an essential item.  All south indians would have surely heard of Keerai kootu or keere porchukoyumbu.. whichever way you call it… its the Dal Palak the southie style…well i used to call dal palak as the keerai kootu the northie style.. whichever way you prefer it.
Well I first had dal palak in the most bland form and wondered how come keerai kootu one of my favorites taste so horrendous.. well then i experimented on it with a good sum of garlic and its yummy … and lately read about it as a chefs dish from JW Marriot.. umm.. now you can believe me i guess[;)]… So lets savour the lasooni dal palak …To the veggies who simply love the GREENS…
Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 25-30 minutes

2. In a pan, heat the ghee. Once heated add the cumin seeds, once they start popping, add
onions and then add the garlic, ginger, remaining green chillies once the onions become light
brown, we add the ginger garlic latter as not all like the strong smell of garlic, this gives the
right aroma.
3. Fry till onions turn golden brown. Add tomato, spinach, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander
& salt. Saute the above mixture till it turns soft and golden.
4. Add this to the dal and mix.
Mix well, and heat on medium for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
5. Serve hot with chapatis.
The best light khana me and my hubby prefer… this way you are getting the goodness of dal and green veggie together…
